What Skates! je projekt bruslařského portálu Brno-inline.cz a webová podoba Muzea bruslení, ve kterém si můžete prohlédnout dobové brusle „naživo“ a některé dokonce vyzkoušet.

What Skates! is a project of the skating portal Brno-inline.cz and the website of the Skating Museum, where you can see skates „live“ and even try some of them out.

Cílem projektu není shromáždit všechny modely bruslí (to by ani nebylo možné), ale ukázat zajímavé i běžné brusle, které odvál čas, brusle kolečkové i lední (dokonce i sněhové), brusle významné pro vývoj bruslení, nebo naopak slepé vývojové uličky, kterých nebylo málo, technologie, které zmizely nebo se naopak osvědčily, a v neposlední řadě připomenout historické výrobce, neboť mnoho významných bruslařských značek dnes již neexistuje.

The aim of the project is not to collect all models of skates (which would be impossible), but to show interesting and common skates that have been lost to time, roller skates and ice skates (even snow skates), skates that were important for the development of skating, or, conversely, dead ends, of which there were many, technologies that have disappeared or, conversely, proven themselves, and, last but not least, to commemorate historical manufacturers, as many important skating brands no longer exist today.

Samotné brusle přitom tak zajímavé nejsou, pokud neznáte jejich příběh. Smyslem těchto stránek je proto shromaždování informací, které mohou doplnit a obohatit příběhy bruslí. Neváhejte nám napsat svoje připomínky, jen díky nim budeme schopni společně složit alespoň část této bruslařské historické mozaiky.

The skates themselves are not that interesting if you don’t know their story. The purpose of this website is therefore to collect information that can supplement and enrich the stories of skates. Please feel free to send us your comments, as they will enable us to piece together at least part of this historical mosaic of skating.
